I'm actually quite alive, and life is good. :)

I just celebrated my 18th birthday; despite having extreme senioritis, I'm getting a 3.8 this semester (not that it will matter much, as I've already done all of my applications); and I've just been reunited with an old friend.

Yes, life is fabulous.

Hello everyone.

Nothing about my life is terribly exciting. I'm always bad at journals, probably for that reason.

I do start school this week. Senior year. I feel nostalgic about it already. I know that it will be fun (senior year always is), and I'm sure there will be tons of amazing memories and whatnot. But at the same time...I'm not going to lie, I can't wait to get the fuck out of here.

On a more current note, I might go to the lake with my friends this weekend. For one last day of fun before the school year. :)

PS: Summer homework = wtf? A 5 page essay due on the first day of class...for a teacher we've never had before...and with minimal explanation. Not fair.

My copy of HP7 hasn't come yet, and I'm beyond annoyed. Amazon promised that it would be here today, and I kind of got my hopes up for it. It's only 3:30, so I guess there's still time, but shit...I want it now.

I know that it isn't going to live up to my expectations, and I've heard that the epilogue is kind of lame, but I'm still dying to read it. Gah.

PS: I want sushi.

Okay. So I apparently have a problem with listening to songs all the way through. I'll listen to half of it, totally get into it...then suddenly feel bored and change it.

The strange part? It only happens when I'm listening to music at the computer. In the car or at parties I never get bored of songs.

Random.

This past week has been an amazing one. I ditched a week of school to visit family in Wisconsin. Most people laugh and make fun of the fact that I actually choose WI for my vacations, but I love it. The weather was beautiful - 70s and 80s. I got to spend lots of time by the lake, which was nice.

Some of the highlights:
-Partying at a night club for the very first time (all the ones in Vegas are 21+).
-Shadowing my cousin at her school.
-Lunch with my older sister...who I only see once a year.
-Birthday parties.
-Long talks with my cousin and her friends.
-My "Wisconsin initiation" (i.e., chugging a bottle of Captain Morgan in a parking lot).
-And of course, just lounging around in my grandma's living room watching reruns of favorite TV shows.

Leaving home made me realize just how much I hate being tied down. On the last day, I literally cried in the airport because I didn't want to return to feeling trapped at home. I went on the trip by myself because I needed to get away for awhile, and I got just what I wanted - the freedom to live and be happy. I wasn't bogged down by a stubborn mother or a disrespectful, violent brother. I was free.

My mom has been improving lately, to the point where we usually get along pretty well, but I still yearn for the freedom. In a way, I wish I didn't have to come back.

I like making friends. I read my flist and comment on a regular basis, despite my lack of entries.

Comment to be added.
